Open The Gates
Open The Gates is an introductory, members-only quest in Winds of Valen that grants players access to Valen City. In this quest, you must assist Guard Captain Miller in locating his missing scouts around the Goblin Villager camp, and ultimately confront the Goblin General.

Walkthrough
To begin the quest, speak with the Gate Guard stationed near Valen Gate at the gates of Valen City. He will inform you that the gates cannot be opened and directs you to cross the bridge towards the Broken Village to speak with Guard Captain Miller for the full story.
Upon speaking with Captain Miller, he will ask for your assistance in locating three of his missing scouts: Harry, Walter, and Thomas. Before setting off to find them, it is highly recommended to bring a pickaxe and some strong healing items (such as a Large Strong Health Potion), as this quest concludes with a boss battle.
Finding the Scouts
The three scouts are scattered in the hills west of the Valen Gate:
- Harry: Head to the purple wooded fort near the Goblin Villager camp, west of Valen Gate. You will need to defeat Level 15 Goblin Villagers in this area until one of them drops a Guard Helmet, which serves as proof of Harry's fate.
Harry - Thomas: From Harry's location, continue further west towards the cliffs. You will find Thomas stationed here; simply speak with him.
Thomas - Walter: Head back down the hill in the direction of Captain Miller. Along the path, look for a wooded area near a fork in the road, where Walter can be found sitting behind a rock.

Confronting the General
Once you have obtained the Guard Helmet and spoken to both Thomas and Walter, return to Guard Captain Miller to deliver the news. Miller will then instruct you to return to Thomas's location to clear a cave entrance blocked by rubble (requires Level 15 Mining).
Upon clearing the rubble and entering the cave, you will face off against the Level 55 Goblin General. Defeat him and collect the Goblin Goods to finish the quest.
Quick Guide
- Speak to the Gate Guard at Valen Gate, outside Valen City.
- Cross the bridge towards the Broken Village and speak with Guard Captain Miller.
- Kill Level 15 Goblin Villagers at the purple fort west of Valen Gate until you receive the Guard Helmet.
- Head further west to the cliffs and speak with Thomas.
- Find Walter sitting behind a rock in the wooded area on the way back down towards Captain Miller.
- Return to Guard Captain Miller and hand over the Guard Helmet.
- Go back to Thomas's location and clear the cave rubble (requires 15 Mining).
- Enter the cave, defeat the Goblin General, and collect the Goblin Goods to complete the quest.

- Access to the exclusive Valen City zone.
- A Guard Cloak (your first back slot item).
- 5,000 Mining XP.
Reward Details: Guard Cloak
The Guard Cloak is an unshakable cape worn by the Valen City Guard.
- Stats: +4 Melee Power, +5 Agility.
- Defences: +10 Melee Defence, +10 Ranged Defence.
- Value: Can be bought for 1000g, or sold to stalls for 20g.
